How to stop and prevent the loss of eyelashes and eyebrows caused by demodex mites.
Loss of eyebrows, itching, burning and irritation of eyes could be signs of demodex mites affecting the eyebrows. Most humans have demodex. Generally, this mite is harmless. It cause no troubles, spending life inside hair follicles of the eyebrows and the skin pores of the face and scalp. The female eyebrow mite can lay eggs deep inside the skin pores, the eggs hatches after 2 – 3 days. The life span of Eyebrow mites (demodex fulliculorum) is 2 – 3 weeks. The mites are active at night. It consumes sebum oil and cosmetics that women use on eyebrows and facial skin. One of the reasons why, women are more affected by demodex mites, especially on the facial skin (eyebrows, eyelids and eyelashes). The scalp can be affected as well because of the overuse of hair dies and bad shampoos.
To prevent the side effects: loss of eyebrows and others, it is very important to properly and thoroughly remove cosmetics : mascara and eyeliner. Due to aging, the elderly people are at risk to get the mites in the eyebrows as well.
Although small number of eyebrow mites can not cause major health problems, the symptoms and signs mentioned above needs to be addressed to your doctor. Loss of eyebrows can not happen without reason. Substantial increase in number of eyebrow mites cause itching and irritation, these signs can be first symptoms of demodicosis (uncontrolled growth of demodex mites). Ignoring the symptoms, postponing the treatment may lead to complete loss of eyebrows. There are different treatments available.
